Rise of the Apes

It seems Tom’s film has been pushed back:

Film fans will have to wait another five months to see the upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel – the film has been pushed back until November.

The new movie, currently titled Caesar: Rise of the Apes, stars James Franco and Tom Felton and picks up the story before the previous primate movies in the series.

The blockbuster was due to hit cinemas in the summer, but the release date has now been postponed until the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday weekend in November.

The move has reportedly come to give movie bosses more time to work on special effects, according to the Los Angeles Times.

On a side note I am changing internet provider and I maybe without internet for a short period of time. So I will add those photo updates when I can next get online.

Rise of the Apes filming began

Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potterfilms, says he has begun filming Rise of the Apes, a prequel to the popular Planet of the Apes sci-fi movies, and also finished shootingmovie with Twilight‘s Ashley Greene.

“I’ve just started shooting Caesar, Rise of the Apes, which is the Planet of the Apes prequel, which I’m mega, mega excited about,” Felton said. “It’s a project that I’ve been really passionate about for a long time.”

Rise of the Apes stars Freida Pinto, James Franco and John Lithgow and is scheduled for release on June 24, 2011. The film is set in modern times in San Francisco and shows the consequences of human experimentation with genetic engineering – increased intelligence in apes, which brings forth the threat of a power struggle.

Pinto, a 25-year-old Indian actress best known for her role in the 2008 Oscar-winning movieSlumdog Millionaire, will play a primatologist and Franco a scientist, while Lithgow, of the sci-fi series Third Rock from the Sun and recently, Dexter, will reportedly play his father.

The original 1968 Planet of the Apes film starred the late Charlton Heston and quickly became a cult classic and spurred several sequels. A remake featuring Mark Wahlberg was released in 2001 but receive mixed reviews.

Felton, 22, also recently filmed a movie called The Apparition with Ashley Greene, who portrayed the vampire Alice Cullen in the Twilight films. Felton said the project was “a kind of science thriller with an ounce of horror.” The Apparition is set for release on September 9.

New project: Rise of the Apes

Entertainment Weekly just mentioning Tom’s new movie role:

Felton, meanwhile, will be putting his Care of Magical Creatures skills to good use in Fox’s Rise of the Apes. The actor will play the son of Brian Cox’s character, who has been described as “the villainous owner of a primate sanctuary who runs the facility without compassion for the animals that live there.” Between Draco Malfoy and this, it’s beginning to look like Felton may be one of those actors who’s destined to always play the bad guy (or at least the son of a bad guy), but don’t get me wrong — that’s not a bad thing. Felton has shown that he can make evil characters a whole lot of fun to watch.
